The Municipal Gallery of Chania is a unique cultural space that houses paintings, engravings and sculptures by renowned Greek artists and local artists, dating from the 18th century until today.

It is a center of wider cultural creation, develops significant publishing activity while in addition to the permanent collection, organizes and hosts periodic exhibitions, lectures, workshops, educational programs and other activities throughout the year.

The Municipal Gallery of Chania is housed at the beginning of Halidon Street, which leads to the Venetian Port, at the Koundouros Palace. It is a three-storey building built in 1910, a typical example of Neoclassical Greek Architecture of commercial and industrial buildings built in the late 19th and early 20th century.

The building was renovated and the operation of the Gallery began in early 2003. The interior renovation of the building from a combination of wood and metal is also impressive.

It has a remarkable collection, about 700 works, paintings and engravings of renowned Greek artists such as Dimitris Mytaras, Spyros Vassilios, Vasso Katraki, Dimitris Galanis, Spyridon Vikatos, Andreas Georgiadis, also other several artists
